Margaret (Marge) Harper (Comeau nee Kennedy)

We sadly announce Marge's death at St. Joseph's Health Care Centre, Guelph, Ontario. Born to William and Josephine (Molloy) Kennedy of Trepassey, Marge was the fifth of nine children. At age 16, following her graduation from Daniel's Point All Grade School, Marge entered the Sisters of Mercy at Littledale. During her 28 years as Sister M. Gerard/Sister Margaret Kennedy, she taught at Brigus Elementary and St. Michael's , St. Georges, prior to following her dream of becoming a nurse, graduating from St. Clare's Nursing School diploma program in 1959. In 1963 she completed her BScN at Dalhousie, then continued her work at both St. Clare's Hospital and St. Patrick's Mercy Home. In 1975, Marge embarked on a new life as Margaret Kennedy and moved to Alberta to work in coronary care at University Hospital, Edmonton. Three years later she moved to the University of Toronto to pursue an M.Ed which she completed in 1981. She continued her work as Staff Educator in coronary care at St. Joseph's Hospital in Toronto until her retirement. Predeceased by her first husband Paul Comeau, her siblings Ed (Elizabeth - deceased), Regina, Rita (Thomas - deceased), Jim (Ann - deceased), Albert (Kathleen), nephews Tim and Matthew Kennedy. Beautiful in every way, she is fondly remembered by her husband Ralph and his family, brother Bill (Donna), sisters Mary Keiley (Peter-deceased) and Anne, sister-in-law Kathleen, her much loved nieces and nephews, the Sisters of Mercy, Class of '59, special relatives and friends. As a Sister, nurse, teacher, friend, and family member, Marge was dedicated to making every world she touched better. She lived her faith and in so doing made a difference. A celebration of Marge's life will be held on Saturday January 21, 2017 at St. Clare's Chapel, at 10 am.
