Blaikie, Walter “Lee” – 74, Truro passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 16, 2017 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Hagersville, Ont., he was the son of Edna (Wardrope) Blaikie and the late Walter Blaikie. Lee worked at various jobs before working as a car dealer at Blaikies Dodge Chrysler, Truro. In his retirement years he and Barbara spent their winters in Florida along with significant travels and cruises. He was an avid golfer and harness racing fan. He was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara; daughters, Pamela (Adam) Zacharjasz, Toronto, Melanie (Chris) Oickle, Halifax; sister, Cynthia Mitchell; brother, Gary; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father; his sister, Cheryl Shedden and a nephew. Cremation has taken place. A reception to celebrate Lee’s life will be held on Friday, January 20 from 2-4 pm at the Truro Golf Club, 86 Golf Street. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Hemochromatosis Society.
