SURETTE, Vivian Eleanor – age 85, Pinkney’s Point, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 14, 2017 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born July 22, 1931 in Pinkney’s Point, she was a daughter of the late Narcisse and Freda (Surette) Surette. Vivian was a retired school teacher and was a member of the Catholic Women’s League (St. Ambrose Council), as well as the Pinkney’s Point Happy Seniors. She also enjoyed quilting and playing cards, especially cribbage. She will fondly be remembered as a wonderful cook. She is survived by her loving children, Janet (Dan) Majcher, Miramichi, NB; Yvette Heffernan, Pinkney’s Point; Kevin Surette, Miramichi, NB; Keith (Jane) Surette, Spruce Grove, AB, as well as by her grandchildren, whom she loved babysitting, Christopher, Amy, Megan, Kathleen, Corey, Jessica, Maggie, Alix, Matthew, Nicholas, Emma and Joshua, as well as by eight great grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings, Stanley (Velma) Surette, West Pubnico; Allan (Lillian) Surette, Halifax; Marie (Jean) Cottreau and Annette Surette, both of Yarmouth; Jacqueline (Paul) England, Brampton, ON; Fleurette Surette (Stephen Amirault), Yarmouth. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Cecil M. Surette and a granddaughter, Sarah Majcher. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday with prayers at 8 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 18 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Melbourne, Father Henry Smolenaars officiated. Interment took place at St. Raphael Cemetery, Pinkney’s Point. Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of choice.
