Passed on: January 24th, 2017
It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow that we announce the passing of Enso Antonello on Tuesday, January 24, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in San Martino di Lupari, Italy, he was the only child of the late Giovanni (Johnny) and Ines (Trevisan) Antonello. Enso’s most important role in life was as a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was raised on Mitchell Ave, Dominion. His first job was with Highland Motors in Glace Bay, he then became purchasing manager for the Town of Glace Bay, retiring with the CBRM. He was a lifetime fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. In his young years he played miner hockey, coached little league and trained the sea cadets. Enso also served on the board of directors for the Glace Bay Miner’s Forum and the Savoy Theatre. He was proud of his life membership and serving as past president for the Italian Hall in Dominion, where he was the oldest member and enjoyed the delicious Italian dinners. He was 3rd degree member with the KOC, Glace Bay Council and at one time served as the Deputy Grand Knight.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Geraldine (Phalen) Antonello; daughters, Lorinda Antonello (Seamus Jackson) and Alisa Cook (David); grandchildren, Parker Regan, Ceileann Regan (Jarrett MacDonald), Kira Clarke (Joey), Malory McVicar (Paolo Mont); three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Norah and Quinn.
