Sarah Agnes Kane

It is with great sadness and love that we announce the passing of our wife, mother and grandmother, Sarah Agnes Kane on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Sarah was born in Grand Mira on June 11, 1950 and was the oldest of six children born to Hughie and Mary (MacLeod) MacArthur. After graduating from Riverview High School, Sarah met Reg and they married at St. Margaret’s parish in August of 1973. Sarah was a person of strong faith. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who put family first. She worked for many years at the Maple Leaf Restaurant and was employed for over thirty five years at Woolco and later Walmart. She was an avid reader, loved animals, going out to eat and spending time with her many friends. At the time of her death, Sarah was a devoted member of Our Lady of Fatima parish.
Sarah was predeceased by her parents; a brother, John Hugh (Ernestina) and her mother-in-law, Maude Kane (Edward). She is survived by her husband, Reg; her sons, Philip (Jennifer) and Michael (Trina); her grandchildren, Brittany, Faith and Thomas; her brothers, Jimmy, Danny (Rose), Francis (Margo) and Cameron (Judy); sister-in-law, Ernestina (MacArthur) and father-in-law, Edward Kane. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on Sunday, January 29 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Church on Monday at 11 a.m. with Fr. Duaine Devereaux officiating.
