Elizabeth “Betty” Marie O'Neil

In the early morning of January 30, 2017, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Betty, gained her wings, leaving us with broken hearts and great sadness. Betty was born in Sydney on May 18, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Neil Stephen and Annie Mae MacLean. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Colin and her much loved and never forgotten son, Ronnie. She will be greatly missed by her family, Arlene, Stevie (Melinda), Cathy, Gary (Belinda), Linda (Claude) Coleman, Kelly (Karen). All her precious grandchildren, Courtney, Alisha Galloway, Leandra Barry, Krystian, Julian, Kendra O’Neil, Janna, Katelyn Bates, Logan, Luke, Lochlan O’Neil and Claudia Coleman, and her great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Wynn, Harper, Darcy, Liam and Shayla; her sisters, Ann (Bill) Daigle, Lexi (Gordie) Reid, Rose Dean, Eileen Williams and her brother, John (Karen). She was predeceased by her sister, Marie Steel and very special brother-in-law, Freeman Dean. She will be missed by her sisters and brothers-in-law and all her nieces and nephews. Betty has been blessed with a 2nd loving family at Harbourstone. She was very fortunate to be loved and to love all of the staff on Mira Bay. Thank you. Betty loved spending her summers on the Benacadie Mountain surrounded by her family and having many cups of tea. She had a very special relationship with all her aunts and uncles.

Cremation has taken place. Family will receive visitors Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 from 11a.m. - 12:45 p.m. at Chant’s Funeral Home, with funeral service to celebrate her life at 1 p.m. with Sheldon Chant officiating and a reception to follow. Burial will take place at a later date.
