Carvel L. Gilroy, 85, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2017 in the Northwood Centre.
Born in Springhill, he was the son of the late Ernest and Louise Gilroy. Carvel was educated in Springhill Schools and received his teaching license at the Provincial Normal College in Truro. He taught for many years in Nova Scotia and spent one year in Alberta as well as Quebec. He returned to Nova Scotia and spent the last 15 years of his teaching career at Northbrook School in Dartmouth.
He is survived by his brother; Roy (Shirley) Gilroy, many nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by brothers; Lawrence (Geneva), Donald (Mabel) and a sister Doris (Harold).
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at All Saints Cathedral in Halifax on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 2:00p.m. Dean Paul Smith and Major Daniel A.G. Gilroy, Chaplain, Canadian Armed Forces, CJOC Headquarters, Ottawa officiating.
Interment will be held in All Saints Cathedral Columbarium, St. Alban’s Chapel.
