Rosemary (nee Rogers) Batchilder

With gratitude for a life well-lived and an unceasing commitment to faith and family, we announce the death of Rosemary Batchilder (nee Rogers) at Kings County Memorial Hospital on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the age of 72. Surrounded by her devoted husband of 53 years, Paul, and her loving children, Rosemary’s spirit was comforted and sung home with her favorite songs, stories and laughter. Born in Charlottetown, she was the daughter of the late Thornton Rogers and Connie and Bill Haley. Rosemary is survived by Paul and their children, Alana MacGillivray (Chris), Chris Batchilder (Chantal), Melissa Batchilder (Rob Gray), Andy (Susan) Batchilder and Haley Zavo (Amil); cherished grandchildren, Daniel Ethier, Whitney Rutherford, Ashleigh MacGillivray, Allister Batchilder, Drew Batchilder, Pearce Batchilder, Oliver Batchilder, Abby Batchilder, Mischa Zavo, Simon Zavo and Avery Rusin; brother Jo Ed Rogers (Claire) and sisters, Patri Liebtsch, Connie “Mike” Murphy, and Charlotte Bryand (Dave). She was predeceased by her brother Thornton “Tucker” Rogers (Dawn). Rosemary was a cherished member of the community of Georgetown and admired for her lifelong commitments to the practice of nursing, St. James Church, the Girl Guides of Canada, Georgetown Elementary School, the King’s Playhouse and for always being ready to volunteer. Service was her cure-all and this legacy is instilled in all who knew her. Her creative talents were appreciated by many, especially those who wore one of the dozens of dresses she crafted for special occasions or quilts that kept us warm. Of course, she will always be remembered for those amazing cookies! Resting at Ferguson Logan Montague Funeral Home with visiting on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Wednesday, February 8 at 10 a.m., from St. James Catholic Church, Georgetown. Internment to take place in the Parish Cemetery. Donations to the King’s Playhouse or King’s County Memorial Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
