BROWN, ROBERT EDWARD
October 10th, 1931 – February 8th, 2017
Robert (Brownie) passed away peacefully in the early morning of February 8th, with his wife Kathy at his side. He was born in Willow Saskatchewan. He was the youngest in a family with 5 siblings. Brownie will be remembered for his kindness and gentle way. Family and home were the priorities for Brownie. He treasured and valued the many hours he spent with the grandchildren. Brownie was quick to smile and enjoyed visiting with people who would recognize him, fondly call out his name and the conversations picked up as if time had not passed. He was a railroader with the CPR for 40 years. Brownie was proud of the many ‘trainees’ he had over the years. He volunteered with hockey organizations with his sons. Brownie treasured his daily walks and his yard. Living across from the Moose Jaw Co-op afforded the convenience of yardwork, socializing and being outdoors. All of his family gathered last fall to celebrate his 85th birthday over the Thanksgiving weekend. Brownie is predeceased by son Darwin Brown; brothers George, Harry; and sisters Alma, Gladys and Maude. He will be greatly missed by Kathryn, his wife of 59 years; his children Nona (Brian) and Currie (Carolyn); his grandchildren Cody (Layla), Jennilee (Justin), Devin, Ryan and Bobby Keith and one great grandson Reiner. The family would like to thank the Aspen Medical clinic especially Dr. Vooght for the excellent care he provided to Robert over the years. Brownie’s Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 10th at 10:30AM at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel, 106 Athabasca St E., Moose Jaw, SK. Della Ferguson will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. In living memory of Robert, a memorial planting will be made by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
