Shaner, Timothy Ralph
February 12, 1955 – February 3, 2017
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Timothy Ralph Shaner, age 61 of Chestermere, Alberta and formerly of Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Timothy passed away February 3, 2017 at Agape Hospice in Calgary, Alberta after a courageous three month struggle with brain cancer. Timothy was a devoted loving husband, a caring father and grandfather, most loved brother and a friend to all who knew him. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Ralph and Ethel Shaner and his stepdaughter Jennifer Janz. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 28 years Trudy Shaner; stepson Sheldon (Paula) Janz; grandsons Grant and Zachariah; sister Lynn (Wayne) Regier; niece Trisha (Wayne) Cormier and their children Trista and Preston; nephew Jason (Terra) Regier and their children Andrew, Luke and Sophie; nephew Dean (Linnea) Regier and their children Callum and Julian; niece Jillian (Derek) Theissen and their children Harrison and Elliot; sister Cheri (Len) Rempel; nephew Jeff (Abeline) Rempel and their children Josiah, Jerrod, Aliyah and Adeline; niece Janessa (Michael) Ljunggren and their children Erica, Annika, Brenden and Alayna; niece Julianne Bowers and her children Tayler, Riley and Logan. Right from Tim’s early day’s he had a love for people, an independent adventuresome spirit and a great sense of humor which he carried with him throughout his entire life. It was that vibrant personality and his winning smile that found him easily loved and enjoyed. Tim worked in various jobs, as a young adult he worked with heavy equipment and when he changed to managing installations of office furniture, the job took him to many places throughout North America and other countries, including Japan, which he especially loved. He enjoyed many hobbies such as curling, hockey and golf. In his younger adult years, photography was a real passion and he photographed various weddings and functions for family and friends. In 1989, Timothy married the love of his life Trudy. He immediately became father and very close companion to Jennifer and Sheldon and later loved his role as grandfather to Sheldons children, Grant and Zach. From the time of original diagnosis of a tumor October 23, 2016 and the realization of what lay before him, Tim was accepting of God’s will for his life. His faith in God sustained him through his brief time of illness as he shared with family, friends, doctor and hospital care staff. Tim remained his loving, sweet self to the end with his enduring sense of humor and positive outlook throughout the suffering. Never did a word of resentment or bitterness come from his lips. He was so loved by all of us. The Salvation Army Agape Hospice of Calgary was where Tim spent his last four days on earth. There, he was blessed to have kind and compassionate care by the staff and volunteers. How very thankful Trudy and the family are for the Salvation Army Chaplain, she was a special blessing by coming in several times a day to give a word of comfort and have a time of prayer. Trudy and family are grateful to the many friends who visited and showed so much love and care and to the City Of Chestermere, the Mayor, and staff for all means of heartfelt support given to Tim and Trudy. Tim may be gone from our presence, but our love and our memories of Tim will live with us. We look forward to eternal life with Christ our Lord in heaven where we will meet Tim again.
