It is with very deep sadness that the family of Frank Leslie Rogers must inform you of his death on Wednesday, February 22, 2017. Frank was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia on October 7, 1927 to Gilbert Ormsby Rogers and Hazel May Manning Rogers. Frank had two siblings, a brother, Edmund Ormsby Rogers of Victoria B.C., and a sister, Frances Sanderson Kennedy of Montreal, both of whom have predeceased him. Frank's life after graduating from Dalhousie University, was working in the furniture business established by his father, first as manager and then owner. Frank was always active in sports groups, the YMCA, Rotary and many other charitable causes in Yarmouth. Frank is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sarah Marcella (Marcie) Matheson Rogers. The achievements in Frank's life of which he was most proud are his children, their partners and grand children. They are; Neil Leslie Rogers/Judy Alice Pearce and their children, (Dr. Leslie Anne Rogers; Capt. Sarah Alicia Rogers/Alex Prymack; Glynis Catherine Rogers); Karen Manning Calvert/William Patrick Calvert (Karen's daughter Chelsea Manning Colonese/Jordan Colonese); Bruce Robert Rogers/Carol Elaine Coolen (Mark Nathan Rogers; Megan Laura Rogers); Allan Gilbert Rogers/Jacquelin Ann Hartigan (Daniel Frank Rogers and Graham Allan Rogers); All of their love and attention strengthened Frank's final days. Special thanks to Dr. Thomas Baxter for his gentle care and all the nursing staff and cleaning staff of 3 South at Yarmouth Hospital all did so much for him. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. There will be no visitation or flowers by family request. A funeral service will be at Beacon United Church at 2:00 p.m. on Monday February 27, 2017 with Rev. Sharon Lohnes officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Memorial donations may be given to Beacon Church or any other charity as wished.
