WHITE, Iris Mary – age 96 of the Meadows Home for Special Care in Yarmouth passed away at the Meadows on February 12, 2017. Born in London, England on September 26, 1920 she was a daughter to the late Edward William and Dora (Bailey) Hawkins. Iris was a homemaker most of her life and served in the British Air Force during World War II (WAF). She is survived by sister, Madeline Donafrio, Seaford, NY, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Capt. Rupert Horace Frederick White; sisters, Joan Bittman, Olive Haris, Vera Klyder; brothers, Hyman and Ronald Hawkins. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium in Yarmouth where cremation has taken place. As per Iris’s request there will be no funeral or visitation. She will be interred in the National Field of Honor with her husband. Donations in memory may be made to the Salvation Army.
