The death occurred at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Saturday February 25, 2017 of Elizabeth (Betty) Poirier of Rev. W J Philips Residence, Alberton and formerly of St. Edward aged 91 years. Beloved wife of the late Beloni Poirier. She was born in Amsterdam, Netherland on January 19, 1926, the daughter of the late Hendrick and Hendrina (Bosman) Pet. Loving mother to Wesley Poirier (Janice), Hagerville, ON; Blanche Whiteman (John), Dutton, ON; Brenton Poirier (Barbara), Glengary. PE; Angela Schneider (Bill), Rose City, Michigan and Kenneth Poirier (Donna), St. Edward, PE. Cherished grandmother to 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She is survived by sister Alice deJager, brothers Co (Jacobus) Pet (Nel) and Andries Pet all of Amsterdam and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Beloni, sons Hendrick and Gary, daughter Rena in infancy, brother-in-law Everett and son-in-law Keith. Resting at the West Prince Funeral Home, 522 Thompson Road, Palmer Road for visiting hours Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and Thursday 9-10 a.m. Funeral will be held Thursday March 2, 2017 at the Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date. Palmer Road CWL will hold a prayer service Wednesday afternoon at 3:45 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Tignish Legion Ladies Auxiliary will hold a prayer service Wednesday evening at 6:45 p.m. at the funeral Home. Memorial donations to Immaculate Conception Cemetery Fund or Fr. Roy Shea Mission Fund would be greatly appreciated.
