Emery Ingerson Redden- 80, of Kentville, Kings County, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 25, 2017 in Shannex - Orchard Court, Kentville. Born in South Alton, he was a son of the late Emerson and Winnie (Meister) Redden. He began his working career with Ron Illsley’s Esso Station in Kentville in the 1950’s later moving to Ontario working at a Sunoco Service Station. He returned to the Annapolis Valley in the 1960’s working with John Broome at his Gulf Station on West Main Street, Kentville and later owned and operated Emery’s Irving in Aldershot, from where he retired. He is survived by his children, Lisa and Scott; sisters, Rose Doyle, South Alton; Helen (Jim) Adie, Comox, British Columbia; Birdie Moores, Halifax; brothers, Hughie (Carol), South Alton; Harold (Clara), Cambridge; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Rita Bowman, Virginia Bilgen, Gladys Hunt, Hazel Lake and Mary Schurman; brothers, Robert, Basil, Clyde, Terrence, Earl and Chesley. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service and reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017, Reverend Leon Langille officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill Kings County. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
