Mrs. Elizabeth Axworthy, 81, of Florence, died suddenly on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, NS.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late James MacIntyre and the late Annie (MacLean) MacIntyre. She was a member of 083 Florence Legion and the Sydney Mines Pensioners Club. Also she ran Pat’s Irving, on Florence corner, with her late husband for 13 years up until his illness. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Patricia (Patsy), at home and Denise (David), North Sydney; three grandchildren, Davie (Dee), Brian and Nicholas and great-grandchild, Brooklyn. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Also surviving are sisters, Naomi MacDonald, Margie Wall, Tena Gracie, Sharon Garnier; brothers, James MacIntyre and Billy MacIntyre. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Patrick (Pat) Axworthy and also by brothers, Norman, Kenny and sisters, Catherine and Effie. Visitation for the late Elizabeth Axworthy will be held from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Ave. Sydney Mines. Funeral Service will follow at Carman United Church at 2pm, with Rev. Nick Phillips officiating.
