It is with great sadness that the family of the late Genevieve Wheeler announce her peaceful passing surrounded by her loving family at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the age of 70 years. Genevieve is predeceased by her parents Michael and Margaret Power; brother Eddie; sister-in-law Catherine; nephew Rogan and her mother and father-in-law Leo and Mary Wheeler. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her beloved husband of 50 years, Anthony "Tony"; son Ronald (Barb); daughter Janet Jackson (Mike); grandchildren: Christian, Nick, Emily, Ryan and Lauren; brothers: Leonard (Pat), Charlie (Dot) and Mike (Jocelyn); brothers-in-law: Michael (Margie), Fred, Glenn (Angie) and Phonse (Phyllis); 5 sisters-in-law: Loretta (Lester) Hickey, Christina (Cecil) Collins, Brenda (Jim) Griffin, Jacqueline (Joe) Rizk and Patricia Wheeler; special niece Trudy Wheeler, who she loved like a daughter; devoted and faithful friend Sandra Hackett, who was always by her side, as well as a large circle of family and friends. A special thank you to Dr. Dunne and the staff of Palliative Care and 4A, for all their compassion and care. Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Friday, between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. from Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish in Benoit's Cove, with Monsignor Edwin Gale and Father Don Leonard officiating. In keeping with Genevieve's wishes, cremation will take place with interment at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
