It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Marguerite "Mag" Muir Chancey (nee Murdoch) on Friday, March 10, 2017. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family, following a lengthy but courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents: William and Alice Murdoch, and brothers: Jack and Peter Murdoch. Leaving with wonderful memories are her loving husband of 61 years, Ronald "Tom" Chancey; daughter, Christine Butler (Geoff); son, Tom Chancey (Rosilyn); her precious grandchildren: Justin Butler, Melissa O'Hara (Matthew) and Michael Butler; her only sister, Nell Spurrell (Wilf) and her brother, Cecil Murdoch; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and many wonderful friends. A special thank you to the staff of St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, the many doctors, nurses and homecare workers who were especially kind to her. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, on Saturday, March 11, and Sunday, March 12, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held from Barrett's Funeral Chapel on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 2:00pm, with a reception to follow at Barrett's Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marguerite's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.
