It is with very heavy hearts that the family of Janet Elizabeth Elliott, announce her sudden passing. Janet was born on November 11th, 1944 in Pictou Hospital and spent her early years in Central Caribou before moving to River John and then settling in Seafoam. She devoted herself to raising her family and then being an actively engaged beloved Grandma. In her spare time, Janet enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing and genealogy. She particularly enjoyed the times her entire family could all be together. Janet was predeceased by her father, Everett Turple; sisters, Ruby MacKenzie and Kathleen Rose; brothers, Gregory Turple and Stuart Turple; brother-in-law, Dave DeWolfe; and nephew, Mark DeWolfe. She is survived by her mother, Christine and step-father, Earl Johnson of Melville. Janet will be forever missed by her loving husband of 54 years, Daniel Elliott of Seafoam; and by their children, Burns (Mary) Elliott of Seafoam; John Elliott (Lynne Parsons) of Halifax; Jane (Gord) MacKenzie of Maple Ridge, BC; William (Elizabeth) Elliott of Seafoam; Susan MacDonald of New Glasgow; Beatrice (Rick) Edwards of Bedford. Grandma adored and was adored by her 10 grandchildren, Gordon & Alexander MacKenzie; Cassandra & Dylan MacDonald; Courtney & Benjamin Elliott; Amy & Emily Elliott and Abigail and Samantha Edwards. Janet is also survived by her brother, David (Sheila) Turple of Guelph, ON; sister, Marjorie DeWolfe of Fall River; brother, Erwin (Nancy) Johnson of Melville; brothers-in-law, Ron MacKenzie of Brookfield and Jim Rose of Enfeild; sisters-in-law, Beverly Turple of River John and Sue Paddock of Mount Uniacke. Visitation will take place Thursday, March 16th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Toney River. Funeral service will be held Friday, March 17th at 2 PM also from St. David’s Church with a reception to follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, Janet requested that donations be made to either St. David’s Presbyterian Church in Toney River or to the Pictou County Food Bank.
