Wilson was the last surviving child of Edgar and Emma Burton, predeceased by all his brothers and sisters - Martin, Victor, Maude, Nellie, Cater, Wilfred, Peter, Charlie, Julia, Marjorie, and Mercedas. Dad was born in Boswarlos and moved with his family to Curling, Corner Brook in 1931 and began his career with logging with Bowater's Paper Mill. Cutting pulp wood began an extended life devoted to a family run sawmill, E. T. Burton and Sons and then on to building houses and apartments. With the establishment of the base in Stephenville, he, along with his brother Charlie expanded to Stephenville to build a duplex apartment complex. Moving to Stephenville in 1968 he ran a confectionary/dry good/games room/takeout Burton's Drive Inn and Burton's Apartments. He was an avid curler and golfer into his late 80's and proud of his achievement of the prized Hole-In-One at Harmon Golf Club. He built many lasting friendships with fellow golfers and curlers that he cherished. His pride was in his family, his independence, living by himself and still being a licensed driver until his recent illness and death. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 15th from 2-4 and 7-9 at Russell's Funeral Home in Stephenville. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, March 16th at 2:00pm from the United Church on St. Clare Avenue in Stephenville with internment in the Hillside interfaith cemetery on the Hansen Highway.
