Lois McDonald

Passed on: March 17th, 2017

Lois Margaret (née Meacher) McDonald passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017 at the age of 59 years. Lois was born in Portland, Oregon on December 27, 1957 to Bill and Mary Meacher, the sixth child of eight. When Lois was a year old, the Meacher family moved back to Moose Jaw, SK where she was raised. She met the love of her life, Bill McDonald in 1987 and they were married on March 18, 1989. She always said “the third times the charm”. Lois enjoyed the life of farming and took to it like a ducky does to water. In 1996, she and Bill made a career change and went trucking. She enjoyed seeing the country from coast to coast. She retired in 2011 to their acreage by Sovereign, SK due to health problems. Lois had many health issues throughout her life and persevered through them all. She lived life to its fullest. When Bill joined her in retirement in 2013, they did some travelling, spent time with family and enjoyed each other’s company even more. Her trademark for her home was the outdoor lights and the giant pair of dice out front because she said it was her paradise. Lois loved her crafts, she enjoyed cross-stitch, plastic canvas and so much more. Lois is survived by her husband of 28 years, Bill; daughter Jennifer; adopted daughter Maureen; Bill’s children Steve, Rick, Jim, Ray, Donna and Rob as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings Bill, Cynthia, Gordon, Jane, Russ, Nancy, Stella and families and her aunt Catherine. She was predeceased by her parents Bill and Mary as well as numerous aunts and uncles. A Celebration of Lois’ life will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sovereign Community Hall, Sovereign, SK with Reverend Jo-Ann Hills officiating. Donations in memory of Lois may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1738 Quebec Avenue, Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9 or to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 104-2301 Ave C N, Saskatoon, SK S7L 5X5.
