William (Bill) Dawson passed peacefully away at home in the presence of his loving wife and children on March 24, 2017. Bill was born on October 24, 1924 in St. John's. He attended Holy Cross School and later went on to start his own company, William Dawson Transport Ltd., working for the Newfoundland Brewery which later became Molson's.

Bill was an honest, hard-working man who always put his family first. Over the span of his 92 years he was a caring husband, a steadfast father, and a fun-loving grandfather and great-grandfather. He was quick-witted and perceptive. He was loyal, genuine, a peacemaker, a gentleman and a great role model.

Bill was predeceased by his father, Thomas Dawson, mother Anne Curran Dawson and his brother Jack.

Leaving to mourn are his loving wife of 66 years Irene (Downey); his children: Paul (Regina Maharajh), Lynn (Stephen Sparkes), Janine (Barry Hiscock), Bill (Kim Pardy), Greg (Patricia Suto), Mark (Shannon O'Dea), Joseph (Karen Chappell); his 10 grandchildren: Jennifer and Stephen Dawson, Ryan and Michael Sparkes, Matthew Rose, Alannah and Rebecca Dawson, Rourke, Molly and Kate Dawson and one great-granddaughter, Maggie Webber.

Also leaving to mourn are his brothers Fred and Ron, and sisters Margaret Collins, Loretta O'Toole, Mona Richards and Rita Lee.

Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road, on Sunday, March 26, 2017 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held at St. Pius X Church, 16 Smithville Crescent, on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 11 a.m.
