1960-2017
After a lengthy illness, Stephen William Wells, 56, of Sackville, passed away at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Sunday, March 26, 2017. Born in Amherst, Stephen was a son of Walter Wells and Gladys Wood.
Stephen had worked with Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada for thirty years.
Stephen was a member of the Sackville Curling Club, The Sackville Golf and Country Club and the Sackville Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was an avid pool player and participated in several leagues, including the Legion League in Sackville. A dedicated sportsman, he could boast having won several championships in curling, golf, and pool.
Stephen will be deeply missed by his wife of thirty-one years, Deborah (nee Tower), Sackville; his parents, Walter Wells, Amherst and Gladys Wood, Pictou; his mother-in-law, Rachel Tower, Dorchester; step-children, Kristopher (Chantal) McLenaghan, Tanya Austin, and Natasha Austin; his grandchildren, Dana Allen, Ethan Troop, Kahlyn Troop, and Keegan McLenaghan; his brothers, Gordon, Carman (Gillian), Richard, and Norman (Lori), as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his stepfather, Richard Wood; uncles Donald Carter and Allan Carter and his father in law, Donald Tower..
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (506-364-1300) from where a funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 2 pm. Pastor Hal Lowther officiating. Interment will take place in the Point De Bute Cemetery in the spring.
Donations in memory of Stephen may be made to Extra-Mural Services, Sackville or to a children's sport of the donor's choice.
