It is with great sadness that Barbara Jean Brown (nee Poole) announces the passing of her loving husband of 60 years, Douglas Joseph Stephen Brown, age 81, of Amherst, NS formerly of Halifax, NS on Monday, March 27, 2017 at Gables Lodge.
Born in Halifax, Douglas worked for the Department of National Defence in Halifax.
He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his children, Janet (Wayne) O’Toole, Tommy (Doreen), Jamie (Christine), predeceased by his son, Jimmy, Peggy (Tony) Poirier and Maryanne Catherine Brown; beloved nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brothers, Ronald, Donald and Russell; sisters, Geraldine and Bernadette.
In addition to his parents, Gerald and Ruby (Bardsley) Brown, Douglas was predeceased by his brother, Jerry.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst (902) 667-9906. There will be no services to follow.
In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions in Douglas’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the CRHCC Foundation.
