Marilyn Fanjoy

Fanjoy, Marilyn Isabel – 58, of Tanner Hill Road, Salem, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 after a long and hard-fought battle against cancer. Born on July 17, 1958, she was the daughter of Margaret Rushton, Westville, and Douglas Rushton, Tanner Hill.
Marilyn was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She loved to be outdoors, and enjoyed playing baseball and doing all sorts of yard work. Growing up on the family farm, Marilyn developed a love for animals, and became a hard worker who wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. In her younger years, she worked as a flagger, then took time to stay home to raise her two daughters. Once they were grown, she was employed at the Saltsprings Irving, Wear Well Garments, and Advocate Printing.
Marilyn was an elder of Salem Presbyterian Church, and taught both Sunday school and vacation bible school. Later in life, Marilyn greatly enjoyed spending time with her two grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. She was a dedicated country music fan, who could sing along to most any song, new or old.
Marilyn is survived by her parents; husband Steven Fanjoy, Tanner Hill; daughters Jaime (Wally) Parker, and Andrea (Jeff) Parker, both of White Hill; honorary daughter Rachel MacLeod, Toronto; and grandchildren Kaleb and Avah Parker. She is also survived by her sisters Diane Rushton, Tanner Hill; Darlene MacKinnon (Phil Murray), Sylvester; “adopted” sisters Jori Hart, Lovat; Sheila MacLaren, Tanner Hill; brothers Gary Rushton, Pictou Landing; Gerald (Cindy) Rushton, Tanner Hill, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sister Sheri Knoblauch, maternal grandparents Stephen and Isabel Wright, paternal grandparents Joseph and Lillian Rushton; mother-in-law Muriel Fanjoy; father-in-law Lawrence Fanjoy; and best friend Vivian McLean.
Marilyn’s family wishes to thank the VON, staff of the Aberdeen Hospital 5th Floor TCU; and staff at Valley View Villa for the exceptional care Marilyn received throughout her illness. Particular thanks to Rhonda, Susan, and Sharon, caregivers who became special friends of Marilyn.
Marilyn is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville where visitors will be received Monday, April 3 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 4 at 2 o'clock at Salem Presbyterian Church with Rev.
