JONES, Avis Cleo – 78, Newellton, passed away April 4, 2017, in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital, Yarmouth. Born April 23, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Hilda (Kenney) Jones. Avis was a kind and generous soul that loved to help others and greatly loved animals. She loved children as well and her grandchildren were very special to her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Leslie (Wayne) Brown, Monique (Rickey) Conrod, Nancy (Melvin) Pothier, Tammy (Jeffrey) Atkinson, James (Marianne) Smith; siblings, Buddy (Phyllis) Jones, Janie Nickerson, Ralph Jones, Beverly Jones; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by common law spouse, James Smith; siblings, Verdon Jones; and Pauline Hunt. There was a visitation held Friday, 7-9 p.m., at the H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. The funeral service took place, Saturday, April 8, 2 p.m., at the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, with Rev. Edward Nickerson officiating. Interment followed in the Oakvale Cemetery, Clark’s Harbour. Memorial donations in her name may be made to the SPCA.
