Ruth passed away in Dr. F. H. Wigmore Regional Hospital on Sunday, April 2nd, 2017. She was born February 11, 1929 in Belfast, Ireland. Ruth married Thomas Robb Paterson in 1954 in Calgary, AB and became a Military Wife. She had three children and travelled to Germany, Wainwright, AB and Moose Jaw, SK. Ruth had a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the Royal Society of Arts London; in Typing, Short Hand and Book Keeping. She became a Teacher of Phys. Ed and Games Mistress at an all-girls school in Ireland, she played and taught Field Hockey, Tennis, and Dancing (Scottish, Irish, N. Folk, Ballroom and Ballet). Ruth also had her own Cochrane School of Dance in Calgary, AB. She was the Secretary, Treasurer, and Office Manager at Zion United Church for 25 years in Moose Jaw, SK. She is survived by her daughter Deirdre (Victoria, BC); sons Robb (Carol) (Regina, SK), George (Moose Jaw, SK); 6 grandchildren Amber and Noahhe (Victoria, BC), Melissa and Greg (Regina, SK), Mark and Taylor (Moose Jaw, SK); 2 great grandchildren Mataya and Ava; and many nieces and nephews in Canada, Ireland, England and Italy. She is predeceased by her husband Thomas R. Paterson in 1989; her parents Isobela and John Cochrane; siblings May, Marie, Izobel, Billy, Norman, and Aimie. A Celebration of Ruth’s Life will be held Saturday April 8th, 2017 at Zion United Church, at 2:00PM. Reverend Jim Tenford will officiate.
