Alice Paul
Passed on: April 4th, 2017
It is with much sadness that we say goodbye to our mother and grand-mother who left us in Calgary after a short battle with cancer at the age of 96. Born in London, England to Fredrick and Mary Anne (Merritt) Benson, Alice had 4 brothers and 3 sisters. She was married to Samual Paul on Nov. 19, 1940 and widowed Aug. 9, 1991 after 50 years of marriage. She is survived by 2 children, Cheryl Wright & Lynne (Sandra) Paul, 4 grand-children, Lindsay Paul, Torey (Ally) Paul, Chris (Lesley) Wright & Shane (Shirley) Wright, and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Bill Benson of Port Colborne, Ontario and her cousin Margaret (John) Botley of England. Alice immigrated to Canada in June 1922. She lived in Moose Jaw until March 6, 2017 when she moved to Calgary, Alberta to live with her son and daughter-in-law Lynne & Sandra Paul. Alice was a member of the Elks Royal Purple for 55 years where she served as Honoured Royal Lady and Past Honoured Royal Lady. She was also a long term member of the Army and Navy Veterans Club. With many friends in Moose Jaw, she led a full and active life. The family would especially like to thank her sincere friends for the kindness shown to her over the years as they were a great comfort to her and us. Upon her request there will be no funeral service. The family will have a private gathering in Calgary. No flowers please. If you wish, you can donate to the Canadian Cancer Society.
