We are sad to announce the passing of our mother Eleanor Wilena (Hislop) MacKenzie, age 90 of Salem, formerly of Salt Springs, on April 13, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital.

She is survived by her husband of 74 years Hector MacKenzie; her children, Diane Fraser (Pat), Salt Springs; Dorothy Henderson (Bill), Pictou; Linda Cunningham, Central West River; Carol Cochrane (George), Melmerby; Sandy MacKenzie (Cindy), New Glasgow; Steven MacKenzie (Teri-Lee), Salt Springs; Heather Carree (Martin), Central West River; 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents Jack and Ella Hislop; sisters Jean, Hazel and Olive; sons-in-law Bobby Fraser and Allan Cunningham.

Back in the day, Mom hosted her share of kitchen parties, often playing the piano along with Dad on the fiddle. She enjoyed having company and travelling with their friends and in later years enjoyed shopping, eating out and going for drives.

Her family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her funeral service will be held 2 o’clock Wednesday from St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church, Salt Springs with Rev. Mary Ann Grant officiating. Burial will be at a later time.
