Nicholous Anton

Passed on: April 15th, 2017

Nicholous (Nick) Anton passed away peacefully at Extendicare on April 15, 2017 with his family at his side. Nick grew up on a farm near Fox Valley, SK until he was about 20 years old and then made his way to Moose Jaw Saskatchewan. While living on Coteau St. W. he met the new neighbor girls and was taken in by a special one Eileen Beitel who had asked him out on a date. Soon after they were married on May 2, 1953. Together the couple moved to Regina to set up home and they had eight children. Nick worked for several construction companies; Revelstoke and Beaver Lumber primarily in sales, then in 1974 Nick started his own construction company. Nick and Eileen semi-retired and moved to Saskatoon and there they managed Nutana Towers as caretakers. When it was time to retire in 2000, they purchased a bungalow on Athabasca St. W. in Moose Jaw where they relaxed in the back-yard feeding birds and growing tomatoes. When the house became too much to handle on his own Nick moved to High Park Tower. He enjoyed playing shuffle board, Sudoku, visiting at Providence Place, and attending St. Joseph’s Church. Very often after church service you will find Nick at Smitty's Restaurant (Mall) enjoying a fine meal where we believe he has sat at every table. Nick is predeceased by his wife Eileen; son John; parents Adolph and Josephine Anton; brother Ozwald; and sister Emma. He is survived by his children Allan Anton, Elaine Anton, Neil Anton all of Moose Jaw, Donna (Glenn) Anton Harned of Prince George, BC, Garth Anton of Seattle, Washington, Carole Ann (Stuart) Anton Gregory of Regina and Paul Anton of Moose Jaw; grandchildren Brandon Mallory, Kaylee (Forrest) Harned Tower and David Harned; brother Eugene of Estevan; sister Connie of Coronach; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass will take place at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave. NW, on Friday April 21, 2017 at 11:00AM. Father Rick Krofchek will be the presiding celebrant. Interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be directed to St Joseph’s Parish Revitalization Project, 1064 3rd Ave. NW, Moose Jaw S6H 3T9. The family of Nick would like to express their gratitude the doctors, nurses and staff of F. H. Wigmore Regional Hospital and Extendicare for their compassionate care of Nick. In living memory of Nick, a memorial planting will be made by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
