It is with great sadness, that we the family of Glenn Leo Apesteguy, age 53, of North Sydney announce his sudden passing on Sunday, April 16, 2017. Born in North Sydney on March 11, 1964, Glenn was the son of Elsie (Hatcher) and the late Gerard Apesteguy.
His greatest accomplishments in life were his children. He always put his family first and always kept a positive attitude and strong faith. He was a former employee of Canadian Tire, North Sydney, where he worked as a mechanic for 26 years. Glenn was compassionate towards helping others and in September 2015 he returned to college at NSCC and engaged in the Social Services Program where he was about to graduate and begin a new career in the helping field. Glenn loved the outdoors and enjoyed socializing with his friends and family at his summer property he called his “Boisdale Paradise”. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed walking, hiking, swimming and anything to do with nature.
Besides his beloved mother, Elsie, he leaves behind his best friend and loving wife, Michele (Burt); his three daughters, Ashley (Chris), Amanda (Chad) and Sandra Lynn. Also surviving are his two brothers, Ralph (Carol), Kennetcook, NS, Gerry, North Sydney; his three sisters, Suzanne (Brian) Cashin, Monica (Mike) Black, both of North Sydney, Darlene (Ian) MacIntosh, Lower Sackville; his mother and father-in-law, Fred and Anne Burt; sisters-in-law, Edith Ann (Mike) Herridge, Stephanie Burt ( Steve); many nieces and nephews and his faithful companion, Bandit.
He was predeceased by his father, Gerard Apesteguy; his paternal grandparents, Vincent and Marie Apesteguy and maternal grandparents, Alexander and Elsie Hatcher.
Visitation for Glenn will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date.
In lieu of condolences the family, ask that you raise a glass and toast to all the good times had with Glenn.
Memorial donations may be made to Cape Breton Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association or Talbot House, Frenchvale.
