SISTER MARIE-ANNE PAQUETTE
1932 - 2017

Sister Marie-Anne Paquette of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, passed away on April 13, 2017 at the age of 84 in the Provincial House Infirmary at 1405 Bishop Pascal Place in Prince Albert, SK. A prayer service will be held at the Chapel of the Provincial House on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated from this same chapel on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 2:00 pm by Most Reverend Albert Thévenot, M. Afr. and Very Reverend Maurice Fiolleau, Vicar General officiating. Sister was born on April 16, 1932, in Canwood, SK, and was the third of three children. The family lived in Debden. In 1942, she and her older sister Adeline became residents at the convent in Duck Lake, SK. Sister Marie-Anne joined the Order of the Sisters of the Presentation and began her training in St. Hyacinth, QC in 1949. Upon returning to the West in February of 1952, Sister lent herself to homemaking duties at the Foyer operated by the Sisters in St. Boniface. In the fall she was transferred to Laurier and for that year was a member of the support staff at the school. For the following years, Sister Marie-Anne committed herself to household responsibilities in St. Boniface, MB and in Makwa, Vawn, Bellevue and Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. In spite of poor health, Sister Marie-Anne often performed her tasks with a song in her heart and usually on her lips. Many a time her literary skills were drawn upon for lyrics or refrains. Her memory for dates and events was marvellously reliable. Her friendliness captivated many and her wit brought joy that all will miss. We rejoice that she now rests in the loving arms of the Lord that she believed in. Sister Marie-Anne leaves to mourn the members of her religious congregation, one half-sister, Pierrette Sauvé of Laval, QC, as well as nephews, nieces, cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Antonio and Lédia (Huot), one brother, Daniel (Clémence Houde), one sister, Adeline (Laurent Bujold), one half-sister, Denise (André Maher) and one step-brother-in-law, Robert Sauvé. Interment to take place in the Sisters’ Section of South Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of River Park Funeral Home, Colette Harnett, Funeral Director.
