SURETTE, Gerald Benjamin “Romeo” – age 72, North Chegoggin, Yarmouth Co., passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at home. Born July 13, 1944 in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late Charles Trahan and Gertrude Surette. Romeo was a truck driver in Yarmouth during his entire working life, having started with Cosman Fuels, then with Killam Bros. and finally retiring from Gateway Fuels. He is survived by his children, James (Michelle) Surette, Alberta; Kevin (Lisa) Surette, Yarmouth; Nancy Boudreau, Yarmouth; Sheila Hubbard, Hubbard’s Point; Charlene Buske, Lanark, ON; Cathy Wagner, Ottawa; Laura (Clark) Surette, Pubnico, as well as by 12 grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Clarence Surette, Yarmouth; Gary (Darlene) Surette, Hubbard’s Point; sisters, Lorraine Vacon, Yarmouth; Joanne Smith, Saulnierville; Louise Boudreau, Annapolis Valley; Florence Dussault, Montreal. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Wally Trahan and sisters, Verna Pothier and Barbara Crosby. In accordance with the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there was no visitation by request. A memorial service was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 29 from H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, Rev. Mr. Stephen Bourque officiated. Interment will take place at a later date.
