Born in North Sydney, September 17, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Clement (Beatrice) Ings and the late Clara (Sam) Hayes. Mom was a very active lady and her activities included camping, skating, biking, snowmobiling, and in later years she was an avid bowler and dart player. She was also known for her wonderful baking especially her “fried bread dough”, her love of music and her door was always open to many neighbourhood and foster children. She was also known as the village seamstress.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Seaview Manor who provided exceptional care and compassion during her stay. In fear of leaving out someone who was so kind to Mom, we won’t be naming anyone specific, but if you think this means you, it does.
Visitation for Phyllis will be Friday, April 28, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay.
Funeral service to be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Port Morien at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2017 with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
