It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Mary Alvretta Sharpe (MacLean) on April 26th, 2017 at the VG Hospital in Halifax.
Born in New Glasgow on May 26th, 1955, she was the daughter of the late John M. and Helen (Russell) MacLean, Westville.
With the love of her life, Laurie, they made a home and raised their family in SunnyBrae. Mom was an active part of her community. She was a member of the MacDonald Rebecca Lodge #108, Calvin Presbyterian Church and Ladies Aid, and was a manager of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church. She worked for many years as a PCW at Glen Haven Manor and Pictou County Home Care and spent the rest of her career before retirement at Sears.
Mom loved her family more than anything. She loved music, her guitar, knitting, bingo, her Lochaber girls and spending her summers at the Seafoam Cottage. She lived for spoiling her grandkids and loved Saturday night Ho Downs in the Gazebo.
She will be forever loved and missed by her husband, Laurie Sharpe; daughters: Angela MacDonald (Gregg), Jannesta Fitzpatrick (Harvey), Lori-Ann (Randall Sanders); son: Craig (Erin Simms); chosen daughter Cheryl (Mike Moser). She is survived by her twelve grandchildren: Dylan, Corey, Madison, Ally, Reegan, Bernie, Brady, Kaden, Cali, Angus, Carson and Mina; Sisters: Darlyn MacLean, Diane Phelan (Tom), Jennifer Fleury (David), Shelly MacLean; brother: Ronnie MacLean; sisters-in-law: Karen MacLean, Rhonda DeGruchy, Jackie MacLean; brother-in-law Arnold Langille; mother-in-law, Kaye Sharpe; brothers and sisters-in-law: Wanda MacKay (Ian), Wade, Brian (Brenda), Irving (Wendy) and Valerie; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Lloyd, John and Chris, and father-in-law Odis Sharpe.
The family would like to thank the many nurses and doctors who gave her such good care.
Visitation will be from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Saturday, April 29th at H. W. Angus Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church on Sunday April 30th at 2pm, with burial at Sunny Brae Cemetery.
Family flowers only please.
Donations in her memory can be made to Summer Street Industries or the Canadian Cancer Society.
