Gertrude "Trudy” Jean Hollis
1918-2017
The death of Gertrude "Trudy" Jean Hollis, 98, of Amherst, and formerly of Springhill, occurred on Tuesday, Aprill 25, 2017. Born in Springhill, Trudy was a daughter of the late William and Eliza Jane (Legrow) Emberly.
Trudy was a member of St. Andrews Wesley United Church and Unit 3 UCW; she enjoyed knitting, sewing, cooking and maintaining a wonderful home where everyone was welcome. She filled a lot of tummies and touched a lot of hearts over the years.
Trudy was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family.
She will be sadly missed by her son, William John "Billy" (Jan) Hollis, Springhill; a grandson, Adam and his children, Chantal and Cameron, and a granddaughter Alexandra 'Ali' (Tony Dowe).
Trudy was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John "Cyril" Hollis; brothers, Cecil and Edmund and sisters, Beatrice and Florence.
Arrangements are under the care and supervision of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902-597-2361). Visitation will be held from the funeral home on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 1 pm until the time of the funeral at 3 pm, with The Reverend Wayne McCarther officiating.
