
Mikie (Michael) Luby

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of a dear husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, Mikie Luby, of Tors Cove, on April 27th, 2017, age 59. Leaving to mourn with lots of wonderful memories, his wife of 35 years, Carol, his daughters Leanne (Curtis) Walsh, Danielle, and son Sheldon (Amelia) Luby; his two grandchildren Peyton Walsh and Hudson Luby who were his pride and joy and absolutely adored; his mother Emmie Luby, father Michael Luby. Also leaving to mourn his brothers Francis (Marge), Keith (Tina) and sisters Mercedes Luby (Michelle), Madonna Luby, and Yvonne (Tommy) O'Brien; along with sister-in-laws Louise (Colin) Sullivan, Gladys (Keith) Hayden, Colleen (Greg) Dalton, and brother-in-laws Keith (Juanita) Colbert and Jerry Colbert (Amanda) and a large circle of nieces and nephews. Also mourning his passing, his best friends Al and Judy Power, along with Leslie Foote (who he considered a daughter), Tracey Greening, a large circle of family and friends. Mikie lived each day to the fullest. He was a true adventurist, always looking for new ways to bring his close family and friends together in one place. Whether it was camping in the park, travelling around the world, snowmobiling in the country, or coaching students to become champion basketball players with Mobile Central High School. Mikie will always be remembered for his dedication to his family and grandchildren, his reliability and determination to fight through the worst of times. Resting at Ryan's Funeral Home in Bay Bulls, Saturday, April 29th, 2-9 pm, and Sunday, April 30th, 2-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday, May 1, 2017 at 2 pm, St. Patrick's Church, Whitless Bay. Cremation to follow. Flowers greatly accepted or donations may be made to St. Michael's Church Restoration Fund.
