Alexander Raymond “Ray” Stewart, age 88 of Thorburn Road and formerly of Blue Mountain, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born August 14, 1928 in Blue Mountain, he was a son of the late John Peter and Christine Robertson (Ross) Stewart.
Ray was a longtime resident of Blue Mountain. He was a member of the Knox Presbyterian Church, Blue Mountain and a member of the Moore IOOF Lodge #17 Thorburn. Ray was a crane operator and mechanic at Scott Maritimes for 27 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying spending time with his chainsaws and tree farmer on his woodlot.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years the former Eileen Fraser, children Myrna (Richard) Stewart, Hailfax; Darla (Dan) Pliskow, London Ont.; grandchildren Leah Pliskow (Cody McDonald), London, Ont.; and Jacob Pliskow, Kitchener, Ont.; fur granddaughter Gracie; sisters Alice (Vernon) Magee,Thorburn Road; Diane (Stewart) Wright, Riverton; Brothers Murray (Mary) Stewart, Thorburn; Mort (Amy) Stewart, Canning; several nieces and nephews
He was predeceased by a sister Georgena Cameron.
Cremation will take place .The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home from where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday with Rev. Gail Johnson-Murdock officiating.
Burial will be in the Blue Mtn. Cemetery.
A reception will follow the service in the funeral home.

Donations in memory of Ray may be made to the Knox Presbyterian Church, Blue Mountain, the Blue Mountain Cemetery or to the VON.
