Eileen Vance

The family of Eileen Vance regrets to announce her passing at the Briarlea Senior Living, her home for the last 3 months, on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the age of 93. Eileen was born January 10, 1924 in Maccan, N-S to the late Elwin and Clara (Brown) Long.
A very proud Nova-Scotian, mom’s heart never left her native province and she spent most summers at her cottage on the Amherst shore where she had lots of fun and friends. She loved to tell us stories of her youth but her proudest time was when she was when she was 17, 18, 19 and 20 years old and worked at the Canada Car during the war. She told everybody she worked as an electrician on the Anson aircraft. Mom dedicated her life to being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, at which she did an amazing job. The last few years, two of her favorite things were her cat Babs and a good cup of tea.
She is survived by her children: Charlotte (Doug) McPhee, Larry (Charlotte) Vance, Barb (Robert) Smith; her grandchildren: Dawna Murray (Jeff Worton), Tanya (Bill) Wackley, Laraine (Moe) Elmufti, Andrew (Peggy) Vance, Geoffrey (Karrie) Smith, Heather (Mike) Dubreuil, Kevin (Tammy) Smith; her great grandchildren: Eric Murray (Michelle Finlayson), Kyle Murray, Isabel and Rianna Wackley, Sami Elmufti, Rebecca and Quentin Vance, Amy Symes Smith, Morgan and William Smith; she is also survived by her sister, Jean Long of Amherst and her daughter Tammy Long of Manitoba as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Webb Vance (2007), six brothers and one sister.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Fair Haven Funeral Home and Cemetery (1177 Salisbury Rd, Moncton), where friends and family will gather from 2pm to 4pm to say goodbye to mom with stories, laughter and refreshments. A private family committal service will follow.
Those wishing to make donations in mom’s memory may give to the Greater Moncton SPCA or to the charity of your choice.
