It is with broken hearts that we, her family announce the sudden passing of Megan Danielle Dugas. Megan was born in Sydney on February 20, 1987. She was a beloved daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin, mother and friend. Megan flew from this earth on Thursday, May 4, 2017 to heaven and into the loving arms of her sister, Leah Dawn.
Megan is survived by her devoted parents, Marylee and Darren Dugas and her beautiful children, Emily Dawn and Brody, the lights of her life.
Megan attended Florence Elementary, TL Sullivan and Memorial High School. Megan worked as a Continuing Care Worker. Megan played basketball and baseball with love and enthusiasm. Megan’s heart of gold made her a friend to everyone and loved by all who knew her. Her beautiful smile lit up our world.
Megan is also survived by her grandmothers, Lavina Forrest and Mary Dugas (Winkie); her large and loving family of aunts and uncles, Cathy Ann(Paul), John(Lisa), Darlene(Sandy), Arlene(Johnny), Brenda, Karen(Eldon), Tommy(Connie), Melinda(Steven), Kevin(Tracey), Tracy(Scott), Shane(Lesley), Darlene(Allen) and Cindy(Dennis); her “special brother,” Chris Osmond; and all her cousins who were her first friends and her best friends.
Megan was predeceased by her only sister, Leah Dawn and her grandfathers, John Charles Forrest and Freeman Dugas.
Visitation will take place from 2-4 & 7-9 on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines.
A funeral service will be held at 1p.m. on Tuesday, May 9 at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church with Rev. Marion Barclay-MacKay officiating. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery.
