William “Bill”  Thompson

Thompson, William R. “Bill” – We, the family of William “Bill” Thompson are broken hearted to announce his passing on Monday, May 8, 2017 surrounded by his loved ones. Bill was born in 1946 to the late Ralph and Margaret (Palmer) Thompson of West Brook. Bill worked in the telephone offices of MTT in Halifax, in building supplies for Deane Allen and as a lumber inspector with the Maritime Lumber Bureau. In 1979, Bill purchased his Uncle Percy’s blueberry farm which he operated until 2008. During this time he brought the fields and the old farm house back to life for all to love and enjoy. He was an expert at fixing what was broken and creating beauty in wood lamps and refinishing furniture. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Willo of 47 years; daughters, Melanie Thomas (Michael); Stacy Thompson (David); a son, Luke (Meagan). He is the proud “Poppa” of Joseph, Willo, Maggie, Bailey, Skylar, Brooklyn, Owen, Summer, Noah, Neveah and Liam. Bill also leaves his brothers, Jim (Claudia), Boyd (Cathy); Willo’s mother, Barbara Hudlin (Al); siblings, Julia, Ira (Bernice), Angela, Annemarie, Arthur (Bertha), Susan (Greg), Tina (Neil); numerous nieces and nephews, and greats. Also, close friends, Keith and Wendy Siddall. Our thanks to Dr. Short, Carla, the VON and to all those who helped with Bill’s care. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Southampton United Church, Rev. Elizabeth Davies officiating. Reception to follow at the Southampton Community Hall.
