It is with deep sadness that the family of Wendellyn (Wendy) Tomlinson announces her passing May 6th, 2017 at the Victoria Hospital. Wendy was born in PA July 8, 1939 and has lived most of her life here, except for a short period of going to Business School in Saskatoon and to Edmonton where her husband was completing his dental degree. They came back to PA in 1964 and have made it home. Wendy over her lifetime became involved in the community through sport and arts. Her biggest passion was curling. Having come from the Howard family and curling being the family tradition, she learned to curl in high school and continued for the next fifty plus years. She was a member of the Afternoon Ladies Club and a mixed league. She loved skipping and led many teams to league and bonspiels. She loved to give back to the sport. She became a National Level 3 coach and a National Level 3 official. Wendy taught Jr. Development Curling in an after-school program and also coached her “special girls” team. She became President of Saskatchewan Ladies Curling Assoc. from 1990-91. At the time of her death, Wendy was the Patron of the Sask Curling Assoc. Having spent many summers at Waskesiu and Emma Lakes, it was mandatory that she learn how to swim. Wendy completed all her Royal Lifesaving Levels. She gave back to the sport by teaching grade 4 Public School students to swim. She also instructed a” mums and babes class”. Wendy needed a little more excitement so she became a certified scuba diver. Wendy continued to enjoy her twice weekly swim up until her illness.. When her children became members of the PA Kinsmen Alpine Race Team, she officiated at local meets and was involved in travelling to other provincial races. For her participation in sport and giving back to sport. Wendy was named PA Sportswoman of the Year in 1982. Though sport was the main theme in her life, she also loved the arts. She dabbled in ceramics, painting, fused glass and quilting. She found that she really liked spinning and weaving, making woven blankets and scarves on a loom from material that she had spun herself . She belonged to the PA Spinners and Weavers Guild. Wendy also truly enjoyed a game that was part sport and part fine arts called Bridge. She valued all the friends that she made.
