It is with great sadness that we the family of Marie MacDonald, age 66, announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. She was surrounded by those who loved her dearly.
Born in Riverside, Marie was a daughter of the late R.J. and Jessie (MacMaster) MacDonald. She grew up on the family farm in Riverside and lived most of her life there. The greatest joys of her life were her children, grandchildren and her Morgan horses. She also took great pleasure taking care of the many children over the years and the immense joy that they gave her. Marie surrounded herself with family and friends whenever possible. She could light up a room with her smile, always so welcoming and made everyone who knew her feel like a better person. Marie enjoyed the “simple things” in life, the barn and the “old hill” were two of her favorite spots.
Marie will be lovingly remembered by her son, Shawn O’Neil, Halifax; daughter, Tammy O’Neil (Ricky), Riverside; her grandchildren, Anita and Tyler; brother, Leo (Irene), Riverside; sisters, Margaret McNamara, Hampton, NB, Cecilia MacDonald, Sydney, Jeanette (Guy) Arsenault, The Points; and her many nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by her brothers, Rannie and Donald; brothers-in-law, Joseph McNamara and Allan MacDonald. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, May 14, 2017 in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 15, 2017 from St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church, West Bay Road with Father Callistus Abazie officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
