Trenton: James Walter DeLorey, age 73 of Hillside, Trenton passed away on May 12, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Tracadie, he was a son of the late Joseph Columba and Annie Jane (Pettipas) DeLorey.
Jim was a resident of Hillside for the past 25 years.
He was a long time employee of Nova Scotia Power, Trenton from where he retired.
Jim enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting and sitting on the deck with his cats.
Surviving are his wife the former Florence Russell; children: Lori Hayne (Donnie Miller) of Stellarton, Sandra Megeney (Dr. Lynn Megeney) of Ottawa, Jim DeLorey (Margo Wright) of Trenton, Denise DeLorey of Stellarton; grandchildren: Zachary, Krista, Lauren, Savanah, Meranda and Anthony; Great grandchildren: Cameron and Laila; siblings: Mary Gaudreau of Quebec, Emma Fraser of Tracadie, George (Rita) DeLorey of Tracadie, Lillian Brister of Mattie Settlement, Kathleen (Peter) Schmitz of Toronto, John DeLorey of Antigonish, Isabelle Burns of Tracadie, Nancy (Romeo) DiStefano of Tracadie/Ontario, sister-in-law Theresa DeLorey of St. Andrews; many nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by twin sisters in infancy; brothers: William, Stanley and Buddy; brothers-in-law: Earl Fraser, Pat Gaudreau, Charles Brister, Archie Burns; sisters-in-law: Viola DeLorey and Yvette DeLorey.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday in the H.W.Angus Funeral Home, 256 King St., New Glasgow.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with Father Tom MacNeil and Rev. Charles McPherson officiating.
Burial will be in the Abercrombie Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Jim may be made to the Palliative Care Society of the Aberdeen Hospital or to a charity of one’s choice.
