Donald "Don" Maxwell Macinnis

Donald “Don” Maxwell MacInnis, 91, of the Veteran’s Memorial Building, Halifax, and formerly of Truro, passed away peacefully, Monday, Sept. 15, 2008 at the Veteran’s Memorial Building. Born in Bible Hill, he was a son of the late Daniel and Lynda (MacKay) MacInnis. Don was a veteran of the Seconnd World War, serving with the Canadian Army (86 Bridge Company) 1942-46. He was a bookkeeper and carpenter in the U.S.A., returning home to Truro in 1976. He was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro. He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth Stalker (Uloth); son Kevin MacInnis (Judy), Bedford, and their children Jason Reid, Moncton, Joey Reid, Truro; daughter Kathy Jalbert (Ed), Lewiston, Maine, U.S.A., and their children Renee Chapman (Jeremy), Rachel and Timothy Jalbert, Lewiston; stepson David Uloth (Debbie), Hilden, and their children Andrew and Jillian Uloth, Halifax; stepdaughter Phyllis Matheson (Dr. Hughie), Halifax, and their children Chris Matheson (Meaghan), Michael, Mark and Andy Matheson, Halifax; brother Paul MacInnis (Donelda), Penticton, B.C. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Ellen Tupper; brother George F. MacInnis; sisters Olive Hood and Marian Lantz. Visitation will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, legion tribute service, 7 p.m. Thursday and funeral service 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, all in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro. A reception will follow in the funeral home. Interment will then be held in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Stewiacke East. Family flowers only.
