PICTOU - Julia Peterson Ross, 96, passed away peacefully in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, on Wednesday, September 12, 2007. Born in Halifax on July 5, 1911, she was a loving daughter of the late Martin and Fanny Peterson (Central Caribou). Julia and her family were long-time residents of Trenton. Following the passing of her husband, Percy, Julia took up residence in Pictou. Julia was very much involved in her church and was a founder and an active participant in fostering the beginnings of what is now known as Summer Street Industries. Julia is survived by her loving son, Robert, New Glasgow; many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews and great-grandnieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Percy; sisters: Gladys Smith, Violet, Margaret Archibald, Dorothy Anderson, Janet Henry, Florence Wortman; brothers: Malcolm, Victor, Frank, Neville, and Albert Peterson. Visitation Monday, September 17 at 1 p.m. in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou, with the funeral to follow at 3 p.m., Rev. Cathy Laskey officiating. Burial will be in Seaview Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
