ELLISON JOHN CLARK

CLARK, ELLISON JOHN - Ellison J. Clark, born June 15, 1926, passed away peacefully at his home on April 11, 2003 at age 76. Born and raised in St. George, he was the son of the late Emen Vincent Clark and Helen Margaret Clark (Kernighan) Spear. Ellison worked for more than 50 years for J. D. Irving Ltd. He began his career when he was only 14, working in the woodroom at St. George Pulp & Paper. After several years at the mill, Ellison worked the river logging drives on the Piskahegan and Magaguadavic Rivers. When mill work slowed in the 50's, Ellison added electrical, plumbing and carpentry to his vast repertoire of trades. Later in the 60's, he exchanged his tool belt for the forestry business when he became a cutting foreman, a fire fighter, and looked after boundary line maintenance until his semi-retirement in 1997. Ellison was a life long member of St. Marks Anglican Church, and for many years conscientiously decorated the church for each season. Ellison was fondly known as 'Tud' to his many friends and family. Tud was an avid hunter, trapper and loved fishing with his grandchildren. He waited anxiously each year for the first day of fishing season. Tud had a passion for gardening and cooking, he was famous with his grandchildren for his scrambled eggs on a plate, and his kitchen always had trays of plants started well before the snow was off the ground. Most years he was the first to have vegetables in the summer in St. George. Tud was always torn between being at home with his prize garden or being at his beloved Red Rock camp. Ellison's greatest love by far was his wife of 45 years, Donna Jeannene (McVicar). Ellison is also survived by three daughters and two sons, Crystal Anne March (John) of Fairfield, NB, Ellison John (Sandra) of St. George, Susan Jean Baldwin (John) of Fredericton, Cathy Jane Clark of St. George, James Kevin (Dawn) of Utopia. Grampy Tud will be sadly missed by his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Jodi L. Tracy (Adam), Jared B. Thorne, J. Matthew Clark, Courtney E. Clark, Jacob D. Clark, Rachel E. Clark, Callie J. Tracy, Cole C. Tracy. Ellison is survived by two brothers and two sisters, George Clark (Christine) of Surry, BC, Lilie Blazekovic (Michael) of Hamilton, ON, Fred Clark (Audrey) of Camrose, AB, Juanita Oickle (George) of Coe-Hill, ON; and several nieces and nephews. Ellison is pre-deceased by Dr. James Vincent Clark, Mary Fern and Alexander Clark. Arrangements have been entrusted to the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) with visiting on Sunday from 6-9 pm. The service will be held at The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Monday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Mary Anne Langmaid officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Charlotte County Cancer Society or St. Marks Anglican Church. www.stgeorgefh.ca
