JANICE MARIAN CHAPMAN (WHELAN)

CHAPMAN (WHELAN), JANICE MARIAN - The death of Janice Marian (Whelan) Chapman of West Saint John occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on September 10, 2007. Born in Saint John on July 8, 1954 she was the daughter of Frederick and Anita (McCabe) Whelan. Janice was a devoted mother to her daughter, Kathleen (daughter of Dale Chapman and niece of Lori Chapman). In addition to her daughter and parents, Janice is survived by brothers, John (Margaret) Whelan and their children, Alex, Jennifer (goddaughter) and Jonathan, and Thomas (Heather) Whelan and their son, Padraic, all of Saint John; and her sisters, Beth Whelan of Saint John and Anne Marie (Gregory) Drodge and their children, Mitchell and Stacey of Halifax; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Janice was a member of the Our Lady of the Assumption Church. She graduated from St. Vincent's High School and attended Dalhousie University where she earned her degree in Pharmacy. She was employed by Shoppers Drug Mart (formerly Wasson's Pharmacy) on Crown Street in Saint John. Janice will be remembered for her generous spirit, love of family and friends, her commitment to her profession and her smile. She enjoyed summer vacations at her trailer, as well as gardening and crafts, and the pride and joy of her life - Kathleen. Special thanks to Dr. Kolyvas, Janice Kenney, and all the medical staff in Emergency, Radiotherapy, NICU, 4B South, and the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their specialized care and compassion given to Janice and her family. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, "Fallsview Chapel", 309 Lancaster Ave. (634-1701) with visitation on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, September 12, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. from Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church on Dufferin Row.
