COOK (Lent), Mildred Ethel Jane - 94, Yarmouth, formerly of Central Chebogue, slipped away quietly on July 18, 2010, surrounded by the love of her family, at Tidal View Manor, Yarmouth. Born May 19, 1916, in Melbourne, she was the second daughter of Alton and Gertrude Lent. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved children: Francis (Della), Eleanor (the late Frank Loomer), Don (Marlene), and her precious sister, Marjorie Coffrin. Mum loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and held a very special place in each of their hearts: Michelle (Terry) White, Chris Cook (Sheila Foote), Tracie (Reg) Mood, Tanya (Greg) Szocs, Trent Loomer (Took Camon), Tiffany Loomer (Bertell Porter), Tara (Neil) Manthorne, as well as, her great-grandchildren: Kristen and Laura White, Braydon and Ashton Cook, Cody and Taylor Mood, Savannah and Skylar Szocs, Bahm Camon, Jaxson Porter, Emily and John Manthorne. On April 28, 1939, Mum married Francis Cook of Central Chebogue. She was a devoted wife, loving and encouraging mother --- a marvellous inspiration to her family and friends. Mum was quiet spoken, reserved, much loved and respected member of her community and church for 64 years. She served her Lord in Baby Band, Mission Band, choir, Sunday School teacher, church clerk and treasurer for many years. Mum was also a member of Ladies Auxiliary and WMS. Her tender heart was as beautiful as her sweet smile that touched all who knew her. Strong in faith, grace and character to the very end, she passed with dignity and we gratefully send her to rest. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Francis (1999), siblings Eugene, Vivian, Murray, and Kenneth Smith, sisters, Helen Foster, Pauline Devine, and Ruth Pinkney. Visitation was held Tuesday, July 20 from 7-9 p.m. at Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel, Yarmouth. Funeral service was held Wednesday, July 21 at 2 p.m. in Central Chebogue United Baptist Church, Reverend Craig Minard officiated. Burial followed in Chebogue Cemetery. Flowers welcome. Donations in Mum's memory may be made to Central Chebogue Cemetery or charity of choice. On-line condolences may be sent to: sweenysfh@eastlink.ca or you may sign the guestbook on-line at: www.sweenysfuneralhome.net "She was a golden thread of love spun invisibly through all our hearts and lives". "...But somewhere past the evening sun, and just before the morning dew, we know your hands are waiting, Mum, to draw us home to you."
