Gibson With his sons awaiting his arrival and his family here bidding him a good journey, Hugh Gibson passed over on April 2, 2008 at the age of 88 years, at Assiniboia Union Hospital Integrated Facility. He leaves a life filled with joys and sorrows - working hands are now at rest. Hugh was born near Expanse, Saskatchewan to Marion and Andrew Gibson, joining his sister Margaret and later followed by sisters Agnes and Marion. As one who grew up through the depression he learned well the value of hard work and making do, and also the comfort of family and friends and community. He married his love and life's partner, Valerie Douglas in 1949 and together they raised their family: Janice (Patrick) Kennedy, Douglas (Marie Boshee), Murray (Carol), and Maureen (Wesley) Hutchinson. Added joys were the arrivals of his grandchildren; Andrew Sept, Roxie Kennedy, Quinton and Lyndell Gibson, Jessica, Craig and Megan Gibson, Kyle, Riley, Kelsey and Cody Hutchinson, and great-grandchildren; Kailey, Kevin, Sterling, Riley, Ty, Joshua and Jorja, and Ryker. Dad spent his life working and providing, working several years at Bishopric Plant, as well as farming and ranching. When allowing himself time for relaxation, one could most often find him working with a new saddle horse, trail riding, preferably with one of his grandsons, watching his grandchildren in all their various sports activities, worrying over their well being and happiness. Upon retirement he and Mom were able to do some traveling, pulling their trailer to various places in Saskatchewan, Alberta, BC and the Yukon, as well as a trip to the "Old Country" - Scotland and England, and a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada. Time spent visiting and sharing tea and a coffee or a meal with family and friends always pleased him most. Predeceased by his two sons; Doug and Murray, sister Margaret, nephew Douglas, and his brothers-in-law. He is survived by his remaining family including 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, his nieces and nephews. His family would like thank all those who supported him through these last difficult years and especially to the caring friends at Assiniboia Union Hospital Integrated Facility. Your gentleness and kindness will long be remembered and appreciated. Donations may be made to Mossbank District Museum, Mossbank Rink or charity of Donors choice. Funeral Service and Celebrations of his life will be held at the Mossbank United Church, Saturday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m. Piche - Hawkins - Grondin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements Assiniboia Gravelbourg 306-642-5551 306-648-2633
