Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth. Put out my hand, and touched the face of God. On June 16th, Gerald "Alden" Smith passed from this earth with peace and dignity at the age of 61. He was surrounded by his wife, three daughters and his son-in-law, Wade, whom he loved. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Carol (Hickey), daughters Tracey, Albany; Pamela, Halifax, and Nicole (Wade Waddell), Albany. He is also survived by the following sisters and brothers, Joan (Eric) Parsons, Gail (Everett) Burt, Erroll (Betty), Opal (George) MacEwen, Ian and Wade (Shelley), brother in law Earle (Nicole) Hickey, Kenneth Hickey and sister-in-law Dorine Bryanton. He was predeceased by his father, Gerald; mother Georgie (Buchanan); brother, Kevin Smith, sister, Ena-May in infancy; nephew, Michael Smith; father and mother-in-law, George and Elva Hickey, and brothers-in-law, Ingham Bryanton. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Resting at the Davison Funeral Home Kensington for visitation on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Friday at Trinity United Church, Summerside, at 2 p.m. Interment in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
